ColdGuard 360 is a connected monitoring solution concept for cold rooms, cold storage facilities and temperature-sensitive environments. It continuously tracks temperature, humidity, door status and power availability, while providing remote alerts, historical records and dashboard visibility to help operators respond quickly to abnormal conditions.

ColdGuard 360 is a connected monitoring and alerting solution concept designed for cold rooms, cold-storage facilities, food-storage areas, pharmaceutical storage, refrigerated warehouses and other temperature-sensitive environments.

The system is intended to provide more than basic temperature logging. It combines environmental monitoring, door activity, power availability, equipment-status information, local alerts and cloud-based visibility in one coordinated solution.

By continuously monitoring the conditions that can affect stored products, ColdGuard 360 helps facility operators identify abnormal situations early, respond faster and maintain a reliable historical record of operating conditions.

The operational problem

Cold-storage failures are not always caused by temperature alone. A cold room may experience problems because of:

  • A door being left open
  • Main-power failure
  • Backup power not starting
  • Compressor or cooling-system failure
  • Excess humidity
  • Rapid temperature rise
  • Sensor failure
  • Communication loss
  • Staff not being present when an alarm occurs

A basic temperature display inside the facility may show the current reading, but it cannot always notify the responsible person remotely or explain why the condition changed.

ColdGuard 360 is designed to provide a broader view of the facility by combining multiple operating parameters and delivering them through a central monitoring platform.


High-level system architecture

A typical ColdGuard 360 installation may include:

Environmental sensing

The monitoring node can support:

  • Temperature sensing
  • Relative-humidity sensing
  • Multiple temperature zones
  • Product-area and return-air temperature sensing
  • Optional external probe inputs
  • Optional defrost-cycle monitoring

Multiple sensors can be placed at selected locations to provide a more representative view than a single wall-mounted thermostat.

Door monitoring

A magnetic or industrial door sensor can detect:

  • Door open
  • Door closed
  • Door-open duration
  • Excessive door-open time
  • Repeated door activity

Door-status data can be correlated with temperature changes to help operators understand whether a temperature excursion was caused by normal loading activity or an abnormal event.

Power and equipment-status monitoring

Depending on the installation, the system can monitor:

  • Main AC power availability
  • Generator or backup-power status
  • Compressor run status
  • Cooling-unit operating signal
  • Contactor or relay status
  • Optional voltage or current information
  • Optional equipment-fault input

This allows the dashboard to show not only that the temperature is rising, but also whether power or cooling equipment is unavailable.

Local control and indication

The monitoring device may include:

  • Relay output for an external siren or beacon

How ColdGuard 360 works

  1. Sensors continuously measure environmental and equipment conditions.
  2. The embedded controller validates and processes the sensor readings.
  3. Local threshold logic checks for abnormal conditions.
  4. Important readings and events are transmitted to the cloud platform.
  5. The dashboard displays live conditions and historical trends.
  6. Alerts are generated when a configured limit or event condition is reached.
  7. Data can be stored locally during a temporary network interruption and uploaded after connectivity is restored, depending on the final configuration.

Automated monitoring reduces the need for repeated manual reading and handwritten logging.

Historical operating records

Stored data can support internal quality reviews, maintenance investigation and operational reporting.

The system itself does not automatically provide regulatory certification. Any compliance use should be reviewed according to the applicable industry, calibration process and local requirements.

A single dashboard can be designed to monitor multiple storage areas or geographically separated facilities.

Earlier maintenance awareness

Changes in compressor runtime, temperature recovery time or repeated alarms can provide useful information for maintenance planning.
